All the information you want to know about Goldendoodles!

May 9, 2018

Facts and breed information you should know about Goldendoodles:

Goldendoodles are known to be a “designer breed” a cross between a Golden Retriever and Poodle. Doodles can come in standard size and miniature size. The standards will typically weigh anywhere from 50-90 pounds where the mini’s are about 15-35 pounds.

Standard Goldendoodle

F1 doodles are 50% Golden Retriever and 50% Poodle, F1B is 25% Golden Retriever and 75% Poodle. F2’s are the offspring of two F1 doodle parents. The F1B doodles seem to be the most popular due to their minimal shedding. They also come in many colors such as black, copper, white, cream, gray, golden, apricot, and red with golden being the most popular. Their coats will also range from wavy to curly. With that being said they will need grooming and depending how you like their coat its recommended to groom every 6-8 weeks. With the wavy coats a good brushing once a week is enough but with the curlier hair a cut would be best to keep away mats and tangles.

Goldendoodles are a very high energy breed which requires a lot of exercise and attention! Don’t worry, they are know to be very smart, intelligent and easily trainable. Doodles typically need about 20-30 minutes of exercise daily but you’ll learn how much you need for your pups energy level. Now a days you will see more doodles as therapy or service dogs because they adapt very easily. They do very well with families, children and other dogs! So if your looking to add a furry friend to your family consider a Goldendoodle, you wont regret it!
